Interlocutors to visit Jammu Dec 17

Jammu : The three interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir, appointed by New Delhi, will be visiting Jammu Dec 17-20 in a bid to comprehensively assess the nature of the problems of the region and arrive at a solution. The visit comes in the backdrop of state Health Minister Sham Lal Sharmas Dec 5 remarks that Jammu has suffered the “worst ever discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri rulers”. The state government has not offered any counter arguments to the charges of the minister.

Official sources said the three interlocutors, journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, academician Radha Kumar and economist M.M. Ansari, have been asked by the ministry of home affairs to pay due attention to the plight of the people of Jammu region as the voices of “discrimination against the region” were now being echoed by ministers. "The interlocutors would be making an in-depth study of the problems of the region and its people living in the hills and plains,” an official told IANS Friday. This is the first time in 30 years that a Jammu-centric study would be conducted.
