Taken notice of Sharma remark’

Jammu : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said “due notice” has been taken of Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma’s remarks, suggesting trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir in case it was granted Azadi.

“Due notice has been taken at the appropriate level. Please allow them to examine not only the statement, but also its context,” Omar said. “After that whatever has to be done will be done. I am sure that whatever action is required to follow after examining of the statement will be taken.” Meanwhile, Sharma Wednesday denied he had advocated Azadi for Kashmir and statehood for Jammu. He said that whatever he said at Sunday’s rally in Bani was “in the background of the venom being poured out by National Conference leader Mustafa Kamal against the Congress high command” and his “rejection of the genuine concerns of Jammu province”.

The National Conference termed Sharma’s “attempt to link his controversial remarks to the statement of Kamal” as unfortunate. “Kamal never made any remark challenging the integrity of the state of J&K,” a party spokesman said. “Linking it (Sharma’s statement) with the NC or its leadership is uncalled for.”
