Pak violates ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir

Poonch, May 5 (IBNS) Pakistani troops on the border violated the ceasefire once again on Thursday by targeting forward Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) with Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPG), mortars and resorted to heavy firing in Poonch district on Thursday.

The Pakistanis fired at three Indian posts in Krishna Gati (KG) sub-sector of Poonch.

"Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire on Thursday. They fired RPGs and opened Medium Machine Guns (MMGs) and small arms firing on three Indian forward posts- Kranti, Ravi and Nangi- in Krishna Gati," a senior Army Officer of 16 Corps told media.

The 653 Mujahideen Regiment of Pakistan fired 12 PRGs, over 500 rounds Medium Machine Guns and other small arms from their posts-Peepal, Pattal, Daku and Burji-from 1525 to 1600 hours.

Immediately after the first explosion occurred, Indian troops took positions and fired back and a heavy exchange of fire took place between both the sides, but no casualties on both the sides.

This is the third time this year that Pakistani troops have violated cease fire by firing mortars bombs and rockets. On May 23 and Apr 19, they had fired rockets and mortars in Poonch’s KG sector.
