लोगों की लाशों पर सियासत कर रही पीडीपी

श्रीनगर। विधि मंत्री अली मोहम्मद सागर ने बुधवार को प्रमुख विपक्षी दल पीडीपी पर लोगों की लाशों पर सियासत करने का आरोप लगाते हुए कहा कि सरकार यूसुफ की मौत के बारे में कुछ भी नहीं छिपा रही है। इस मामले की निष्पक्ष जांच के लिए हाईकोर्ट के जज से जांच कराई जा रही है। वह पीपुल्स डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी की प्रमुख महबूबा मुफ्ती द्वारा श्रीनगर में नेशनल कांफ्रेंस के नेता युसुफ की मौत की जांच के लिए निकाले गए जुलूस पर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया जता रहे थे। विधि मंत्री ने कहा कि पीडीपी के पास कोई मुद्दा नहीं रहा। आम कश्मीरियों में उसकी साख नहीं रही है और लोग समझ गए हैं कि पार्टी सिर्फ कुर्सी की सियासत के लिए उनकी भावनाओं को भड़काती है। इसलिए हताश पीडीपी हमारी पार्टी के एक नेता की हृदयाघात से हुई मौत को मुद्दा बना रही है। पीडीपी का मकसद है कि मुख्यमंत्री अपने पद से इस्तीफा दें।

Sonia to visit Jammu on May 23

Jammu (PTI), 09 May 2011 : United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi is arriving in Jammu on a day-long visit on May 23. She will be accompanied by Defense Minister AK Antony.
She will lay the foundation stone of 592-meter-long cable stayed bridge over river Ravi at Basoli (14.74 km) on Dunera-Durban-Basohli-Bhadarwah road under project Samapark costing Rs 7147 lakh. The project, sanctioned in 2007, is to be completed by September 1, 2014.
Sources said that Gandhi will be arriving to lay foundation stone of the bridge following which she will address a public meeting at Basoli. The MoS defence, M M Pallam Raju, who visited the construction site Monday, took stock of the preparations for the event, sources said.

Join us in hoisting national flag in the State, Soz to BJP

SRINAGAR : Urging the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to desist from hoisting the national flag at Lal Chowk on Republic Day, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prof Saifuddin Soz today said this action could be perceived by some elements as a provocation which should be avoided.
In a statement here this afternoon the former Union minister said that Rebublic Day would be celebrated as usual in the entire Jammu and Kashmir.
The national flag will be hoisted at Moulana Azad stadium in Jammu, Bakshi stadium in Jammu besides at all district and tehsil headquarters in the state, he said.
Mr Soz said the BJP leaders and cadres would naturally be welcome to join the celebrations wherever the flag hoisting ceremony will be held.
The BJP must however, desist from hoisting flag at Lal Chowk as action might be perceived by some elements as a provocation which should be avoided, Mr Soz said in the statement.
I therefore strongly urge the BJP leadership not to adopt a course of action that can invite unsavory reaction and acrimony, he added.

J&K Cong wants rotation of CM

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Congress wants the party high command to revise the terms of alliance with the National Conference (NC) and restore the rotational system for chief ministership. “The NC holding the post of the chief minister is the biggest injustice to the Congress. I have taken up the issue with the party high command several times. I have been demanding that the chief minister’s post be rotated within the ruling alliance and the Congress should also be given three years’ term,” Congress veteran and former deputy chief minister Mangat Ram Sharma told a party gathering in Jammu.

The public meeting — part of the celebrations to commemorate 125 years of Congress’ foundation — was also attended by MP and CWC member Satyavrat Chaturvedi. Congressmen spoke in detail about a number of issues, indicating that the party was an unequal partner in the alliance led by chief minister Omar Abdullah . They talked about the “indifferent attitude” of some cabinet ministers towards Congress workers and efforts against implementing 73rd amendment of the Constitution that empowers panchayati raj system. 

“Alliance means equal share and representation to all partners so that issues are resolved amicably and without any confrontation,” MP Madan Lal told the gathering. “All the three regions of the state — Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh — have different problems and issues, and every region should be given due consideration.” Under the earlier dispensation, PDP ruled J&K for three years following which Ghulam Nabi Azad took over. The Azad government, however, crumbled in the summer of 2008 in the wake of Amarnath land row when the PDP pulled out of the alliance.

Article 370 a reward for JK: Soz

Jammu, Dec 28: The state Congress chief, Saif-ud-Din Soz on Tuesday termed the Article 370 as a “reward” for Jammu and Kashmir from the Constitution of India.

“Those who talk about accession and merger of the state should keep in mind that Article 370 was a reward from the Constitution of India to Jammu and Kashmir,” Soz said while addressing the gathering at Dusherra Ground, here.

JKPCC chief said the Congress high command has maintained the ‘sanctity’ of the ‘special status’ granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. He also took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused it of playing ‘divisive politics’.

He said the integrity of all the three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh should be kept ‘intact’ at any cost and only the Congress party can keep and assure the integrity of the state.

“It is the duty and responsibility of every Congressman to work for strengthening the party, only then the coalition would be strong in the state,” Soz said, adding that he preferred strengthening Congress party over coalition in the state.

Over the appointment of the interlocutors, he said they had been appointed by the Union Home Minister and the Congress party would take a lead in any dialogue process.

He also suggested the neighbouring country, Pakistan for initiating dialogue with India as, he said, dialogue is the only means to resolve the contentious issues.

Hinting at a possible delay in the Panchayat elections in the state, Soz said that the polls shall be held only after incorporation of 73rd amendment of Indian Constitution, which makes it mandatory for the state to amend its Panchayati Raj Act. Pertinent to mention that the Coalition Coordination Committee has already formulated a joint panel to discuss the matter.

आजम के बयान पर कश्मीरी नेता भी नाराज

नई दिल्ली। हाल ही में दोबारा सपा में शामिल हुए आजम खां का जम्मू-कश्मीर पर दिया बयान कश्मीर के नेताओं को भी बेहद नागवार गुजरा है। जम्मू-कश्मीर प्रदेश कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष सैफुद्दीन सोज ने तो आजम को याद दिलाया है कि वे जिसे 'कश्मीर' राज्य बता रहे हैं, वह दरअसल 'जम्मू-कश्मीर' है।

सपा नेता ने कश्मीर के संदर्भ में दिए अपने बयान के सिलसिले में जिस तरह केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री गुलाम नबी आजाद के नाम का इस्तेमाल किया है, उससे वे भी आहत हैं। हालांकि इस बारे में पूछने पर आजाद ने सिर्फ इतना ही कहा कि इस पर राज्य के नेताओं ने पहले ही प्रतिक्रिया दे दी है। आजम के बयान को सरासर गलत बताते हुए सोज ने कहा, 'वह यह भूल रहे हैं कि जम्मू-कश्मीर हिंदुस्तान का अभिन्न अंग रहा है और रहेगा।'

उन्होंने कहा कि आजम का यह कहना भी पूरी तरह से गलत है कि कांग्रेस मुसलमानों पर यकीन नहीं करती। यह कहना भी तथ्यात्मक रूप से सरासर गलत है कि केंद्र में सिर्फ एक मुसलमान मंत्री है। सिर्फ जम्मू-कश्मीर से ही दो केंद्रीय मंत्री इस सरकार में मौजूद हैं। उल्लेखनीय है कि आजम खां ने कांग्रेस पर हमला करते हुए कहा था कि कांग्रेस ने इस सरकार में सिर्फ एक मुसलमान गुलाम नबी आजाद को ही मंत्री बनाया है, वो भी हिंदुस्तान से न होकर कश्मीर से हैं।

J&K Congress comes out in defense of Sharma's 'azadi' comments

The Jammu and Kashmir Congress strongly defended its leader and Health Minister, Sham Lal Sharma over his controversial 'azadi for Kashmir' remarks and described him as a "bold voice" of the party, in a statement on Tuesday. Sharma was quoted out of context and the minister was in fact talking about

forces wanting to divide the state, Vice President and spokesperson of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Mohammad Muzaffar Parray said.

"He (Sharma) actually wanted to alert the (Congress) party rank and file against some detractors," Parray said, adding that, "Sharma was a bold voice of the party in state cabinet." Parray's support to Sharma is an unexpected development, as the AICC high command has already issued a showcause notice to the minister over his remarks.

On December 5 this year, Sharma, at a public meeting at Bani in Jammu region, had said Kashmir should be granted 'azadi' while Jammu should get statehood and Ladakh be declared a Union Territory. "You need to come out of  the Kashmir centric approach. I tell Congress, if you want autonomy or self rule for Kashmir then you need to separate Jammu as a state and declare Ladakh as a Union Territory," Sharma had said.

Parray said the remarks of the minister were in response to the inflammatory statements made by some leaders of the National Conference, the coalition partner of the Congress in the state, against their party. "Whatsoever has been attributed to him by various newspapers for having advocated for trifurcation of state is not correct as same has been quoted out of context," Parray said, considered to be a close aide of PCC President Saifuddin Soz.

Parray was referring to statements made by Mustafa Kamal, NC leader and uncle of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, in which he accused Congress of betraying the people of Kashmir time and again. "This can be said without any reservation that Sharma is a great supporter of the integrity of the state," Parray said, adding that the minister "firmly believes" in the unity and integrity of Jammu and Kashmir.
