Sarhad’s Kashmir fest to take off on December 19 in Pune


Pune : In a bid to enhance the socio-cultural and educational ties with the trouble-torn Jammu and Kashmir, city-based NGO Sarhad has planned its 6th annual Kashmir festival in the city on December 19. In a press conference on Saturday, Sarhad’s founder president, Sanjay Nahar said, “The festival is being organised in collaboration with Arihant Education Foundation. The theme of the festival this year is ‘Soz-o-Saaz, J&K Folk Music Ensemble’ and will be inaugurated by Pune mayor, Mohansingh Rajpal.

The festival will be attended by J&K finance minister, Abdul Rathar; veteran film maker, Mahesh Bhat; and secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Zafar Iqbal Manhas. Pandit Abhay Rustum Sopori and Pandit Bhajan Sopori along with 50 traditional artists will perform at the event.  Besides, senior journalist of The Hindu, Sujjata Bukhari, will be felicitated on the occasion for her contribution to the field.
