Bangalore : The international pressure on Pakistan after 26/11 Mumbai attacks led to freezing of bank accounts and assets of Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen by United States and England. It has now been learnt that Pakistan army and the ISI, in order to keep the Valley simmering, have floated a new outfit called Jammu Kashmir Movement. Pakistan’s aim is to make Jammu & Kashmir Movement look like an outfit based in India, and operated by Indians. Most militants comprising Jammu Kashmir Movement are from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and some are from Jammu and Kashmir. The group is headed by Abdullah Shaheen, who is from Kupwara, and has strong links with Pakistan army and the ISI.
According to sources in Indian army and intelligence, more than 100 militants are currently training in PoK and can infiltrate into India any time. Shaheen has switched over to the new outfit from Hizbul Mujahideen and is keen to have the maximum recruits from Jammu and Kashmir and PoK to give the outfit an indigenous look. Shaheen escaped from an Indian prison in 1999 and is among the top most militant commanders in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Intelligence sources, 45-year-old Shaheen is fast becoming the most prominent face of militancy in Kashmir. Jammu Kashmir Movement was floated in June, at a time when the Valley was worst hit with civil unrest, which claimed 111 lives.
