Kashmiri Delegation Meets Pakistan Foreign Minister

Astana, Kazakhstan: The Kashmiri Delegation met Ms. Hina Rabbani Kher, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of government of Pakistan on the sidelines of the 38th session of the OIC Council of Ministers being held at Astana, Khazakhstan. The delegation was lead by Agha Syed Hassan Almoosvi Alsafvi and included GN Safi, Barrister A. Majid Tramboo, Prof. Nazir A Shawl and Dr. GN Fai.

Ms. Kher assured the delegation that the government of Pakistan will continue it's political and diplomatic support to the struggling people of Jammu and Kashmir. She shared her concern about the appalling human rights situation in Indian Held Kashmir. She briefed the delegation about the latest round of Indo-Pak composite dialogue and hoped that the deliberation will be continued for the peaceful, durable and just settlement of the Kashmir conflict. Ms. Kher emphasised upon the inclusion of the Kashmiri leadership in the negotiating process while deliberating on Kashmir.

Agha Syed Hassan thanking the minister for the continued support of Pakistan hoped that a result oriented policy will be crafted for highlighting the plight of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and that a productive diplomatic initiative is undertaken to create a congenial atmosphere for the resolution of the Kashmir conflict. GN Safi appreciated the statement of the minister delivered by her in the OIC Contact Group on Kashmir exclusive meeting and in the plenary of the OIC conference.

Barrister A Majid Tramboo briefed the minister about the OIC and the EU initiative on Kashmir and on the very recent FTA report on India by the European Parliament with particular reference to paragraph 33 of the report. Prof. Nazir A Shawl welcomed the India-Pakistan dialogue and hoped it to be inclusive by including the authentic Kashmiri voices for a result oriented outcome.

Dr. GN Fai expressed his satisfaction concerning the huge efforts being undertaken by the government of Pakistan at the international level in general and at the OIC level in getting the attention of the international community to assist in the resolution of the Kashmir conflict. He welcomed the resumption of talks between India and Pakistan and hoped that Kashmir will assume the centrality in the composite dialogue.
